We the undersigned recognize that Scouting was established on the basic principles of helping one another. This organization has helped millions of boys build character, develop morals, learn leadership and life skills, become better outdoorsmen, become physically stronger, develop patriotism, develop a love for nature, and helped boys become closer to their God. This is to name only a few of their innumerable effects on boys. We the undersigned realize that The Boy Scouts Of America have a National policy that some people may disagree with. The undersigned agree with the National policy. Why would an atheist want to join a religious organization? Every organization has rules. The Boy Scouts teach that everyone should believe in God. Their Scout Law or Rules say a Scout is Reverent. The atheists are not being discriminated against; they are not complying with the rules, beliefs, and principles of the organization. Why would a girl want to join the Boy Scouts? As odd as it may seem, it has happened. A girl in the Boy Scouts would not live up to the moral teachings of the BSA. The undersigned definitely would not want their teenage sons or daughters sleeping in the same tent or having the ability to. The undersigned would view any practice of the kind as immoral. The ban on homosexuals is because, like the atheists, the homosexuals do not live by the rules, principles, and morals of the Boy Scouts of America. Also, many people would feel uncomfortable having their son on an outing with a homosexual man. Many boys would feel uncomfortable sleeping in a tent with a homosexual boy. The BSA policy is well grounded, as the undersigned agree. However, the undersigned agree that people may disagree with this policy. Those people's opinions are well grounded. The undersigned believe that whatever the personal opinions of others are, we cannot punish the boys and interfere with the benefits on these boys. School Boards, churches, businesses, and others have dropped their support for the Scouts, thus the Scouts are losing money and credibility. The undersigned kindly, respectfully, and considerately ask them to reconsider. By doing these things to the Scouts, who are we punishing? Are we punishing the National Organization or the local boys? The undersigned therefore say, don't discredit, disrespect, hate, or reproach the boys or leaders for a National policy. Everyone has a right to their opinion, just please think of the boys first. Lets unite and save Scouting! To sign, just click sign the petition! ![]() View the list of petitioners Sign the Petition |
